The Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy organises a workshop on mentoring in the frame of the FP7 project "WHIST - Women's careers hitting the target: gender management in scientific and technological research", funded by the European Commission DG Research and the Italian Government.
The WHIST project focuses on the under-representation of women in Research and Technology and aims, based on experiments and other actions, to promote gender equality in three different European research institutions, partners of the project: Aarhus University, the European Space Agency and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft - Institute for Industrial Engineering. The Department for Equal Opportunities, Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Italy is the coordinator of the project, while other partners, ASDO and the University of Milan, provide support to the actions.
The workshop at Aarhus University is organized in cooperation with the secretariat for the Task Force on gender equality policy and the coordination group for the pilot mentoring project, initiated for promoting gender equality. The workshop focuses on mentoring as a tool to overcome barriers for women in scientific careers, particularly in terms of advancing to decision-making positions.
